Kenya, like many countries in the region is vulnerable to climate-related effects and extreme weather events posing serious threats to the socio-economic development of the country. Its vulnerability is exacerbated by the high reliance on climate sensitive economic sectors like agriculture, forestry, wildlife, tourism and energy among others. Climate change has contributed to extreme weather events such as drought and flooding that have led to loss of lives, diminished livelihoods, reduced crop and livestock production and damaged infrastructure.
